Asyncly Hackathon #1: official rules
Build with Codex · November 7–8, 2026 · Last updated October 25, 2026
1. Who runs it
Asyncly Hackathon #1 (the “Event”) is run by Asyncly AI (“Asyncly,” “we”). Questions go to support@asyncly.ai. The Event isn’t sponsored, endorsed or run by Reddit, OpenAI, Apple or any other platform.
2. Who can enter
Asyncly’s employees and contractors, and their immediate families and households, can’t enter. Void where prohibited.
3. Dates
All times are Pacific, and Asyncly’s clock is official.
- Sign-ups close Friday, November 6 at 11:59 p.m.
- Build window: Saturday, November 7 at 12:00 a.m. through Sunday, November 8 at 11:59 p.m.
- Surprise resets drawn around Sunday, November 8 at 12:00 a.m.
- Voting: Monday, November 9 at noon to Wednesday, November 11 at noon
- Winners announced on or about Thursday, November 12
4. How to enter
Sign up on the event page and confirm your email. Build your project during the build window with Codex in Asyncly, then submit it before the deadline using the link we email you. Entering is free and no purchase is necessary. Confirmed participants get 30 days of Asyncly from their first task, with no payment card, automatic charge or obligation to buy. Sign in with your registration email; this also covers people whose trial ended. It doesn’t start or change a paid subscription. Your own Codex account and its limits apply.
5. Teams
Enter solo or as a pair. Both teammates sign up and meet these rules, and one of you adds the other to your entry before the submission deadline. Each person can be on only one entry. A pair submits once and splits any prize equally, unless both agree otherwise in writing before the build window closes.
6. Categories
Each entry chooses one category: Work tool, Video game, or Creative or interactive. A short brief for each is published at kickoff. Before voting opens, we may move a clearly misfiled entry, and we’ll tell you if we do.
7. What to submit
- A working link anyone can open and try in about two minutes, without an account or payment. Keep it online through voting.
- A project name, category, short description and at least one screenshot.
- A few sentences on how you built it with Asyncly. Pairs also say who did what.
- A list of any code, templates or assets you didn’t create during the build window.
Video is optional. Your source code can stay private, though we may ask for a private look or a short walkthrough to confirm eligibility. You can update your entry until the deadline. After that it’s frozen, except that we may restore the submitted version after a hosting outage.
8. Original work
Write your project’s code during the build window; planning beforehand is fine. Open-source libraries, starter templates and licensed assets are allowed if you list them. Existing products, reskins and features of something you’ve already built don’t qualify, and neither do warm-up projects. You must have the rights to everything you submit. Don’t use any employer’s code, data, systems or confidential information. Entries can’t contain malware, collect anyone’s data without consent, infringe anyone’s rights, or break the law or another service’s terms.
9. Voting and winners
Anyone with a confirmed email can vote during the voting window: one pick per category, editable until voting closes. You can’t vote for your own entry. Bought, automated, duplicate or traded votes aren’t allowed. We may discard suspicious votes and disqualify entries that benefit from them. Reddit upvotes don’t count.
After eligibility checks, the entry with the most valid votes in each category wins.
10. Prizes
Prizes total up to $1,500:
- Category prizes: $300 to the winning entry in each category.
- Pair bonus: $100 more when a pair wins a category.
- Surprise resets: around the midpoint of the build window we draw three confirmed builders at random and award each $100 in cash. Voting alone doesn’t enter you. We contact recipients then and send payment as soon as they confirm eligibility and payment details, so they can use it during the event. Each person can win one. If someone drawn isn’t eligible or doesn’t reply within 7 days, we draw again.
Tied entries share the category prize equally; tied pairs share the $100 pair bonus equally, and solo entries don’t receive it. In the recorded results order, any remaining category-prize cents go to the first tied entry, and any remaining bonus cents go to the first tied pair. If a category has no eligible entries, its category prize is split equally among the other categories’ winners; its pair bonus is never transferred. Ties and empty categories don’t affect surprise resets. The total can’t exceed $1,500. We pay in US dollars within 30 days of confirming a winner. Winners are responsible for any taxes, and we may request the payment and tax information needed to pay them. Prizes can’t be transferred.
11. Confirming winners
We’ll email everyone who wins a prize, including surprise resets. Each winner, including both members of a pair, must confirm their eligibility within 7 days. Otherwise a category prize goes to the entry with the next-most valid votes in that category.
12. Your work
You keep ownership of everything you build. By submitting, you let Asyncly show your project’s name, description, screenshots, link, video if you add one, and Reddit username if you shared it, with credit, in the event gallery for voting and results. You may separately opt in on the submission form to a credited feature in Asyncly’s public showcase and later product posts, with your teammates’ permission where applicable. Opting out does not affect eligibility, voting or prizes. You can ask support to remove your gallery entry after voting or withdraw future showcase use; posts already published may stay up. Testimonials and case studies require separate permission.
13. Privacy
We use your sign-up details to run the Event, as described in our Privacy Policy. Signing up doesn’t add you to Asyncly’s marketing emails.
14. Changes and disqualification
If fraud, a technical failure or something else outside our control affects the Event, we may change, pause or cancel it. We won’t reduce the prizes after sign-ups open, and we’ll post any change here and email entrants. We may disqualify anyone who breaks these rules, tampers with the Event, or harasses other participants or community moderators.
15. Liability
You’re responsible for reviewing what coding agents do on your computer and for backing up your work. To the extent the law allows, Asyncly isn’t liable for lost or late entries, service outages, or indirect damages connected with the Event.
